Altogether Forgiven
Altogether Forgiven
Author: Martha Kilpatrick

We are all on a lifelong journey and the core of its meaning, the terrible demand of its centrality, is forgiving and being forgiven. To forgive is to possess holy power over the person you are forgiving, power to change their life for God, for goodness, to free your enemy from his Enemy, that he might see his error. Come with me, beloved of God, come with me to behold the miracle of the universe - forgiveness.

The first and deepest wounds of the soul are the wrongs of parents inflicted on the helpless child. Those primal hurts are buried at the bottom of the well of our soul's story. The first and deepest wounds of the soul are
the wrongs of parents inflicted on the helpless child.

Those primal hurts are buried at the bottom of
the well of our soul's story.
Few there are who dig them out,
tell the story to their heart and . . .
forgive.

Jesus exposed the horror of the Father
over stumblings that leaders/parents cause to children.

Better to be drowned in a disappearing sea,
hung with the weight of a millstone.
Better to be dead,
than cause a pure child to learn sin.

The sea is the place of sin's deposit,
the home of demons,
the place God buries the rebellious.
The sea is the great abode of His rejection,
symbol of endless separation from God,

Parents.
Anyone who assumes the
role of "parent" in cruel dictatorship,
despots and dominators,
who never admit their iniquity . . .
all who tyrannize the vulnerable
person-child within us
will live flailing in a perpetual drowning,
weighted with a millstone of guilt,
under God's Parental Eye.
Better to be dead!

Woe to the world for such temptations to
sin and influences to do wrong!

Woe means grief . . .
the very world of both parent and
child suffers and heaves under the sins,
unconfessed and so unforgiven.
And the sins are inherited and perpetuated
on and on.
Generation to generation,
until the world is filled with woe.

All persons in the range of such offenses
suffer in the aftermath of
the sins of leaders-and-parents and
the hurts of "children."
All the world pays.
And all the "world" grieves.

Woe - grief - to the world.
Woe - grief - to the person who makes
a little one stumble.

It is necessary that temptations come but
woe to the person on whose account or
by whom the temptation comes!

Jesus is always real.
Adam's offspring are wicked monsters.
All of them!
Pain and hurt to the "little one" are inevitable,
a terrible tragedy, the experience of all.

So . . . all "children" are wounded
and "all" go into some deep hiding place of the soul,
a place of the loss-of-self by unbalmed pain.

And so the Shepherd searches through the
unlit labyrinth of the soul . . .
for the lost child.

But few, so few, will let themselves be "found"
and let their wounds be closed by
the cure of forgiving.
